In the 7th grade, students review prayers from previous school years and add 4 more prayers to the list of prayers to know by heart. The prayers this year are:

  1. The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary.
    R. And she conceived of the Holy Spirit. Hail Mary…
    V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord.
    R. Be it done unto me according to thy word. Hail Mary…
    V. And the Word was made flesh.
    R. And dwelt among us. Hail Mary…
    V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
tR. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
    Let us pray:
Pour forth, we beseech thee, O Lord, thy grace into our hearts; that we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ, thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by his Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of his Resurrection. Through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Act of Love(7)  2nd Trimester

O Lord God, I love you above all things, and I love my neighbor for your sake because you are the highest, infinite and perfectly good, worthy of all my love. In this love, I intend to live and die. Amen

Hail, Holy Queen (7) 2nd Trimester

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.
To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us, and after this exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us O holy mother of God, that we may be worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen

Sorrowful Mysteries(7)  3rd Trimester

  1. The Agony in the Garden
  2.  The Scourging at the Pillar
  3. The Crowning of Thorns
  4. The Carrying of the Cross
  5. The Crucifixion

We will also have regular quizzes on reviewed prayers from grades PK-7 throughout the school year. The Archdiocese of Seattle asked for these prayers to be learned by heart.

The dates will be listed on the Homework Link as to when we will have the in class quiz over that particular prayer. Students who score less than a 3 on the prayer will be allowed to retest after more home study on that prayer. All retests need to be completed by the end of the trimester in which it is assigned.

In general, students will write out the prayers in class. Spelling and punctuation do not count against the grade. If your student has a special need and needs to do the quizzes orally, arrangements can be made to accommodate that need.
